In addition to the successful performances of musicians Alain Perez and Cimafunk, the Duo Buena Fe, the Litz Alfonso company with its show Habana Fenix, and the La Original de Manzanillo orchestra will perform as well.
In statements to Prensa Latina, the manager of that cultural center, Paulo Sanchez, stated that the cultural link between Cuba and Colombia is undeniable and very important, and the attention of Colombian public to Cuban music deserves the opening of many spaces. “With the Colsubsidio program with Cuba as guest of honor, we try to gather some of the best that happens there,” he explained.
According to Sanchez, there are icons of Cuban music who have had the opportunity to be well known by the Colombian public, but there are others who are not known so well.
That is why, he added, spaces such as this theater try to ensure that the audience that approaches Cuban music in such a special way has all the references, or at least many of them, and not just the traditionally known ones.
Cuban music continues to move forward, he said, and praised the fact that many musicians inside and outside the Caribbean island produce high-quality works.
Unfortunately, there are not so many spaces for the dissemination of what is happening in Cuba, he added.
At this point, he stressed that the dedication of the billboard to Cuba is a way to pay tribute to how much its music has given to Colombia, and the need to keep cultural channels between the two peoples opened.
