The dignitary is accompanied by a ministerial delegation and will remain in China until March 29th. His agenda includes meetings with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and other senior figures from the Government and the Communist Party.
Both countries are expected to analyze the progress of bilateral agreements and sign new ones to expand collaboration in the sectors of greatest interest.
In addition, Skerrit will participate in the 2024 edition of the Boao Forum economic event – known as the Asian Davos – and will hold talks with leaders of important state-owned companies in China.
Earlier this week, Skerrit highlighted the economic and social benefits for Dominica as a result of the partnership with China, especially in areas such as investments in health, agriculture, education and infrastructure.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the support received during the Covid-19 pandemic and the devastation caused by natural phenomena.
The Chinese authorities consider this visit important for future projects in bilateral relations with Dominica and predict a positive outcome for mutual political trust, practical cooperation, and traditional friendship.
