Under the new account @AgenciaPrensa_Latina, subscribers can access the agency’s TV service, which has received expressions of solidarity from personalities, press media, communicators and intellectuals from several countries, in rejection of the stripping of its YouTube channel.

“We are the Prensa Latina Agency Channel that aims at offering the world a vision of the reality of Cuba, Latin America and the World different from that provided by the big media monopolies,” the new Prensa Latina TV site referred.

Following Sunday’s cyber-attack, Prensa Latina’s President Luis Enrique Gonzalez stated that no one will silence the voice of the Global South pointing out that the strength of this news outlet in the international media scenario makes it a target for attacks by planetary hegemonic groups.

Gonzalez further recalled that it is not the first destabilization attempt against the agency, which throughout its history has faced threats and hostile acts.

In that regard, the leader mentioned that declassified documents from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), both from the United States, considered Prensa Latina to be one of the most dangerous weapons born in Cuba.

Since its creation in 2012, the former channel accumulated 64,500 subscribers, with a dynamic growth in 2023 that registered an upsurge of 21,000 to some 53,379 subscribers. By 2023, that site has been closing with 9,669,000 visits, higher than the previous 12 months in which it totaled 812,738, and in January, 2024 it registered 1,491 new subscribers, 601,800 total views, with 797,500 minutes of viewing.

Xinhua from China, Sputnik from Russia, Azertac from Azerbaijan and TV BRICS, and several from Latin America such as Caras y Caretas (Uruguay) and Vea (Venezuela) denounced the cyber-attack on YouTube against Prensa Latina expressing reciprocal support to the news outlet that represents their peoples and not hegemonic interests.
