Cuba hosts 3rd Patria International Colloquium

Havana, Mar 18 (Prensa Latina) The 3rd edition of "Patria" (Homeland) International Colloquium opens at Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana on Monday as part of the program for the Cuban Press Day, a date celebrated on March 14.

Sponsored by the Union of Cuban Writers and Journalists (UPEC), the event takes place from March 18 to 20 and brings together communicators, journalists, digital creators, designers, and artists. They will be debating on artificial intelligence and the legal, economic, narrative, and activist challenges in the networks of the Global South, the Cubarte website informed.

The forum also focuses on the state and possibilities of a new international order for information and communication, promoted by the McBride Report, a text written in 1980 by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Such a document, also known as “Many Voices, One World,” was drafted by a commission chaired by Irish politician and Nobel Laureate Seán MacBride.

Its purpose was to analyze the communication problems in the world and modern societies, particularly about mass communication and the international press, which propose a new order of communication for the promotion of peace and human development.

The 3rd “Patria” International Colloquium presents innovations in digital fields and promotes articulations and co-productions involving communicators and experts from different disciplines affecting social communication nowadays.

The event also includes launching and sales of books, live broadcasts, mini-concerts, and exhibitions of technological innovations.
