A total of 5,200 kilos confiscated in 59 days contrasts with a total of 2,29 during the same period last year, according to information provided by the country’s Minister of the Interior, Francisco Jiménez.
These efforts not only prevent drugs from reaching the northern nations of the continent, but also have an impact on transnational criminal structures, said the minister.
He added that they limit their radius of action on equally important issues such as human smuggling and trafficking, as well as contraband.
The inter-institutional work is giving historic results in cocaine seizures’, said the head of the Interior Ministry, who remarked that for such work they receive support from allied states.
This is a transnational phenomenon; we alone could not confront the issue and other countries could not do it without our support”, said Jiménez.
Actions carried out last Saturday and Monday by combined security forces of this Central American territory located three vessels in Pacific waters.
They confiscated 2,596 kilos of coca, worth more than 266 million 530 000 quetzales (a little more than 34 million dollars).
