Ayotzinapas’ parents say events at Palace door were not planned

Mexico City, Mar 8 (Prensa Latina) The parents of 43 missing Ayotzinapa teaching students said on Friday that the violence at one of the doors of the Presidential Palace was not in their plans.

They said they remain on the sidelines of any political party; they did not explain what happened on Wednesday when groups broke down the door with a truck.

One of their lawyers, Vidulfo Rosales, suggests that it happened after a first confrontation in which two parents were allegedly injured.

MORENA sources state that this argument is too trivial for an event of that nature.

During his morning press briefing on Thursday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador expressed reasonable doubts about the performance of lawyers, advisors, and mediators of the parents, whom he believes are part of a movement of provocation against the Government and his presidential candidate Claudia Sheinbaum.

He asked the teachers for a meeting only with them, without intermediaries, by March 20, but some lawyers put pressure that this meeting would not be held without their presence.

The president warned that some of the teaching students’ parents were influenced by lawyers and defended their presence.

Despite that, they generated a lot of suspicion in this election year and could be part of a fierce campaign to discredit him and the official candidate, Claudia Sheinbaum.
