On his X account, Rodríguez pointed out that even amid the genocide in the war-torn Gaza Strip, Israel continues its expansionist policy after approving the construction of nearly 3,500 homes in the illegally occupied territories of the West Bank.

The Zionist State’s stance violates international law and the United Nations resolutions, the head of Cuban diplomacy noted.

On Wednesday, the Israeli Government’s National Planning and Building Council authorized the construction of some 3,476 houses, with 2,452 in Maale Adumim, 694 in Efrat, and 330 in Kedar.

Following a decision by Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet, the European Union (EU) condemned the measure and called to end that policy, which exacerbates the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

According to the Office of the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, that action further expands illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and reaffirms that they violate international law.

The United Nations and its international law enforcement agencies describe the settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as illegal.

Palestine continues to denounce the expansion of those settlements and the forced displacement of its population.
