After over a month, WHO and partners managed to gain access to the Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in Gaza, WHO´s Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus posted on X.
Dr. Ghebreyesus detailed that as many as 19,000 liters of fuel, medical supplies for 150 patients and treatment for 50 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition were handed over.
A large number of volunteer health workers are currently assisting over 240 patients there, the official stressed.
“Services are quite limited given the shortage of medical supplies, fuel, water and food. Destruction rate around the hospital is beyond words. Ceasefire!” he added on X.
Mid-February, Dr. Adhanom Ghebreyesus strongly condemned that the Nasser Hospital, located in the south of the Gaza Strip, quit operating as a result of the army’s actions.
He also accused the military of preventing a WHO team from entering the complex “to assist patients and evaluate critical medical needs”.
