UN Tourism adopts measures to protect the sector

Madrid, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), pointed out that international arrivals in 2023, were at 87 percent of pre-pandemic levels.

However, in addition to applauding the figure, the organization, from its headquarters in Madrid, emphasized the importance of concentrating efforts to protect the sector against future crises.

A few days ago, a UN Tourism delegation headed by Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili visited Jamaica, where joint initiatives were launched to promote the smokeless industry in an ethical, inclusive, and sustainable manner, as well as priorities such as training and investment.

On the occasion of World Tourism Resilience Day in Montego Bay, Pololikashvili, together with the Jamaican Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett and representatives of the public and private sectors, participated in a special conference on the subject.

Among the initiatives proposed, investments were outlined as part of the collaboration with the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), with guides to its collection on tourism and business.
