Thus, Sweden would become the military alliance’s 32nd member after Finland’s accession in April 2023.
The decision came after Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s recent visit to Budapest.
According to the parties, it will help to build “a fair and respectful relationship between the two countries beyond the differences of opinion.”
Experts stated that Budapest delayed its decision to negotiate with the European Union (EU) to release billions of euros in frozen funds.
The EU has been highly critical of the Hungarian executive over issues such as human rights and freedom of speech nationwide.
