Sulyok will replace Katalin Novák, who resigned two weeks ago after revelations that she had pardoned a man convicted of helping to cover up sexual abuse in a children’s home.
Sulyok previously served as the president of the Constitutional Court.
He was elected with the backing of Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party, which controls two-thirds of the Legislature.
Novak, 46, has been the president of Hungary since 2022.
She previously served as Minister for Family from 2020 to 2021.
