It is the second visit by the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) to the territory this year, after they toured Río Cauto municipality in January, the Presidency noted on its X profile.
In Manzanillo, Díaz-Canel, who is also the PCC, together with the Secretary of Organization of that political group, Roberto Morales, met with workers linked to agriculture, industry and water supply.
When checking the large investment being done in the municipality to improve water supply, one of the municipality’s biggest problems, the head of State stressed that this issue must be a priority for the province and the country.
The two leaders also visited the “XX Anniversary” Accumulator Company, an enterprise that has reported losses for five years and is in the process of recovery and expansion of its corporate purpose.
At that site, Díaz-Canel insisted on the need to look for alternatives and protect the highly qualified labor force that works there.
The president paid similar visits to eastern Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba provinces on Thursday.
