The diplomat told Prensa Latina News Agency on the 90th death anniversary of General Augusto Cesar Sandino, of whom she said not only “lives in the hearts of Nicaraguans,” but also in the hearts of all revolutionaries worldwide. Including those who fight for social justice, for independence, for wanting freedom and peace, she noted.

The diplomat commented that today more than ever “we are seeing the onslaught of imperialism and its allied countries” against nations that always seek freedom, independence, self-determination and are based on social justice and love for the people.

Torres, dressed in red and black, who is also a journalist, affirmed “that is Sandino’s line.”

The diplomat expressed that the General of Free Men always wanted Latin American unity because Sandino believed that “being united” we could be stronger and defend our ideas, principles and values as revolutionaries.

The ambassador reflected that nowadays we no longer have a military intervention, “but we have an undeterminate harassment in the whole history of life.” Nations that have wanted to be free such as Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba, and countries in the globe that have been repressed and blockaded, also face today “a disinforming and lying press,” Torres deemed.
