ALBA-TCP expresses solidarity with President Lula

Caracas, February 20 (Prensa Latina) The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) today expressed their solidarity with the president of Brazil, Luiz lnácio Lula da Silva.

A statement from the Latin American and Caribbean integration bloc indicated that the Brazilian dignitary was declared “persona non grata” in Israel, for demonstrating against the genocide in the Gaza Strip and calling for a ceasefire.

He stressed that Lula is a “leader of his country and of Our America”, a faithful defender of human rights and the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations, International Law and respect for the self-determination of peoples.

The ALBA-TCP warned of the danger that the situation in Palestine represents for regional peace and stability, which is why, faithful to its principles, it “demands a just and definitive solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict” through dialogue.

Based, he affirmed, on a two-state solution, which allows Palestine to exercise the right to self-determination as an “independent and sovereign State”, with East Jerusalem as its capital and based on the pre-1967 borders.

The Alliance reiterated its call to the international community to “impose an immediate ceasefire” in Gaza, stop the massacre and determine responsibility for crimes against humanity.

From November of last year to date, almost 30,000 Palestinians died in that enclave as a result of Israeli attacks, including more than 10,000 children and thousands of women and the elderly, in addition to its civil infrastructure being destroyed.
