Russian Foreign Minister to visit Cuba to strengthen strategic ties

Havana, February 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Russia seek to strengthen their strategic relations within the context of a meeting between the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, and his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, in Havana.

Lavrov and Rodríguez Parrilla will analyze the reinforcement of political ties, the regional and international situation, as well as economic-trade cooperation, among other topics.

Cuba and the Russian Federation maintain relations with historical foundations, based on traditional ties of friendship between the peoples of the two states.

Cuba recognizes the importance of cooperation and investment from Russia, which participates in several spheres of Cuba’s development program until 2030, the Foreign Ministry highlighted.

The Cuban government ratifies its purpose of maintaining the development of ties in all fields of mutual interest, as well as putting into practice documents approved by the two states.

Cuba also praises the help provided by Russia in hard times of the Coovid-19 pandemic, especially in relation to the production of oxygen, shipment of food and medical supplies.

A year ago, Russia donated 25 thousand tons of wheat flour to Cuba and provided a financial amount to support the work of the Cuban-Russian regional rescue and fire training center through international organizations.
