Cuban President values popular control in confronting crime

Havana, February 13 (Prensa Latina) The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted the importance that popular control has today in confronting crime, illegalities and corruption.

When intervening in the work balance of the Comptroller General of the Republic and the National Audit System in 2023 and the projections for 2024, held the day before, the president urged people to be more involved in the battle against these scourges.

He pointed out that administrative accountability must be more effective, given that in some workplaces it is only formal and workers do not know how resources are used.

The head of state indicated that popular control must also be present at the community level and in the management of local governments and the Municipal Assemblies of People´s Power, according to the Cuban News Agency.

He said that audit work should be increased in vital sectors such as fuel, where, he said, there is no administrative control that is needed.

He explained that the fight against illegalities, indiscipline, crimes and manifestations of corruption are today the country’s priorities, along with the strategic battle for unity, political and ideological work and the assurance of economic measures.

Díaz-Canel urged the representatives of the Comptroller General of the Republic and the National Audit System to pay attention to work environments and go beyond the traditional sources that supply labor force.
