Weather services warned that the extreme weather conditions could hamper travel in the Northeast given snowstorm just after sweeping the Southeast with rounds of severe storms and flooding threats.
Widespread heavy snow is forecast Monday night from Pennsylvania to southern New York, where winter storm warnings and advisories are in effect, local media reported.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul over the weekend urged residents to pay attention to forecasts and make provisions for possible power outages, as well as potentially hazardous travel conditions.
“I´ve directed state agencies to be ready for this storm and I urge everyone to watch for weather and travel updates,” Hochul said.
According to experts, the snowy weather will mean a major change of pace for the region as many cities in the Northeast go through the warmest winter on record.
The outlook also features flood warnings Monday from central and eastern Alabama and southeastern Tennessee to Georgia and South Carolina with the likelihood of excessive rainfall.
