After the death of Derlis Aranda, the last of the drivers killed since Bolt began operating in the country in 2020, the president of the local association that groups them in Paraguay, Basilio Duarte, declared that Local employees of the service of Belgian origin have been demanding greater security for months.
The business leader blamed those responsible for the entity for neglecting the integrity of their workers, who are exposed to complicated schedules and areas, as happened with this driver, who was shot twice on a street in the northern town of Villa Hayes, according to the GEN/Nación Media channel.
“The police cannot attend to every passenger who boards a vehicle, the deal is private through an application, then the responsibility is 99 percent of the platform,” Duarte added.
According to the labor leader, criminals register as passengers with an alias, without the need to upload their real data as users, “a situation that does not go through a security filter and exposes drivers”.
