Amaya Candia, president of the group of graduates of that institution, declared to Prensa Latina that this is the inspiration for the first response work in disaster situations, such as those existing today in the center-south of the country.
She added that this is because many of the graduates of the first generations were with the Henry Reeve on the occasion of the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile in 2010, or when the Atacama flood occurred five years later.
Then, she said, we accompanied the Cuban brigades that worked in our country and that guides us in the way of doing things.
Regarding the care provided in the field, Candia mentioned the treatment of stab wounds, burns up to second degree, (the major ones are sent to nearby hospitals), respiratory problems and many bruises.
