The cancellation of funds for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the main agency providing humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people, will have a detrimental impact on those most in need, the text published on the website of the Government Press Office stated.

It also pointed out that the assistance of this entity is especially critical for the survival of the Gaza population affected by the current conflict.

The UN has issued a warning that famine is “looming” in Gaza, and that the survival of more than two million people is seriously threatened by the weakening of the entity due to the lack of funding.

The source continued explaining that contributions to Unrwa are necessary in order to help the millions of displaced people in the Gaza Strip who have lost everything and depend solely on such assistance.

By jeopardizing Unrwa’s ability to continue its life-saving relief operations, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza will surely worsen, the statement noted.
