On X, the Venezuelan diplomat stated that PLO was “a significant milestone” in the fight for the self-determination of the Palestinian people.

Arafat became a symbol of resistance and unity, leading the struggle against the Israeli occupation and defending the rights of the Palestinian people in international forums, Gil stressed.

Gil noted that under Arafat´s leadership, the PLO became “a globally recognized political force,” urging for the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

He stressed that Arafat’s legacy lies in the memory of those who continue fighting for justice and freedom in Palestine and beyond. Especially, Gil remarked, at a “crucial moment in history” when the world is waking up and condemning Israeli injustices and its main ally, the United States.
