Havana, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Prime Minister Manuel Marrero reaffirmed his country's commitment to comply with decisions made and agreements reached in the most recent session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in order to expand bilateral ties.

Speaking virtually at the Council’s meeting in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Marrero said Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) have agreed the conditions are in place to move towards a qualitatively superior phase in their relations.

Marrero stressed Cuba continues to promote a closer and more diverse exchange with EEU member states and observers.

An example of this, he said, was the holding of the 3rd Session of the Joint Commission between Cuba and EEU in January.

In the context of the Commission, Marrero added, Cuba presented some projects in which it could deepen cooperation with the EEU, such as the production of medicines and biotechnological development in the Eurasian region, development of the sugar agro-industry as well as the transformation of the mechanical complex.

Cuba welcomes the possibilities opened for educational cooperation by the network of EEU universities, an initiative that will contribute to strengthening cultural and educational ties, he said. pll/lam/mks
