Over 50 percent of Ecuadorians support Noboa’s administration

Quito, Jan 30 (Prensa Latina) 56.64% of Ecuadorians support President Daniel Noboa´s two-month administration, according to the pollster Maluk Research.

The poll, conducted Jan. 14-28 nationwide, showed that 24.39% of Ecuadorians think that the government work done by President Noboa has been excellent, while 17.54% rates it as “very good”.

Likewise, 14.71% said it was “good” and only 12.33% said it was “lousy”.

Novoa began his administration term on November 23, 2023, with a 74.38% approval rating, according to the pollster Perfiles de Opinión.

Even though the figures show the president has gained Ecuadorians´ confidence, most of them remain deeply concerned about the country´s insecurity crisis and economic situation, with a USD$4B fiscal debt that, according to President Noboa, has been dragging on since Guillermo Lasso´s administration.

The Ecuadorian leader has recognized his country is facing up a worrisome fiscal situation, and for such a reason, he has submitted several urgent economic projects to the National Assembly, including a proposal to increase the Value Added Tax (VAT).

Some experts, social organizations and political movements have expressed their rejection to the increased VAT, since it would affect the middle and lower classes; so they presented other choices to rise the revenue without affecting the majority, but only the richest.
