In this regard, Cuban professor and researcher José Luís Perelló elaborated on that on his Facebook account, as a novelty that links the British Isles with this country.

Perelló stressed that the popular toy industry veteran will meet a huge fundraising challenge later this year that he would have never anticipated.

The athlete explained that he was never a fan of bicycle rides, much less those that last five consecutive days in the saddle and travel 380 kilometers under Cuba’s heat through.

For over five decades, Colin supported the toy industry’s Fence Club with its annual fundraising efforts for sick and disadvantaged children across the United Kingdom.

Colin commented that he wanted to do something to try on and do for the fabulous Fence Club. He said that when he participates in the challenge later this year, he will be 73 years old and in a country of fascination.

He added that it won’t be easy, so he was granted a full year of training to increase his stamina and fitness levels.

The ambitious bike ride will begin in Cuba’s cultural capital, Havana, and end five days later in Trinidad, a site declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

He explained the challenge on a route that averages eight hours cycling up to 100 kilometers over five consecutive days, and includes a series of steep hills, rocky terrain and main roads.

Perelló (who is Colin’s spokesman) pointed out that Colin needs all the support he can get, and his determination to reach the required levels of physical condition and reach the finish line in Trinidad in November, with the support of an industry of which he is proud of having been a part of it for so many years, the message concluded.
