This was expressed by Mekonnen during a meeting with UNICEF’s regional director for Eastern and Southern Africa, Etleva Kadilli, while requesting to increase this aid to people affected by conflicts and climate change, as quoted by the local Foreign Ministry.
Kadilli explained that the agency is currently working in Ethiopia to provide humanitarian assistance to children affected by conflicts and natural disasters. He requested government support to reach out to children living in remote areas.
UNICEF is one of the main development actors among the UN agencies involved in humanitarian response efforts in the African country.
