Coordinated by the Cubaliteraria publishing house and coinciding with the anniversary, the event will launch the book “La Vida Tomada de María E” (The Life Taken from Maria E) by Cuban writer and physician Laidi Fernández de Juan at the José Martí National Library’s gallery El Reino de Este Mundo .
The author details in his book the life of María E and tells anecdotes of the life of a Havana woman who could be any woman of this era.
This launching takes place on Cuban Theater Day, celebrated on January 22 since 1980, in memory of the event at the Villanueva Theater in Havana in 1869.
Actors and audience, after showing their support for the independence struggle against the crown, were massacred by the Corps of Volunteers in the service of Spain.
