Nicaragua calls at G77+China summit for the eradicaton of poverty

Kampala, Jan 22 (Prensa Latina) The Foreign Minister of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada, advocated compliance with the priorities defined by the Group of 77 and China for the eradication of poverty and inequality during his speech at the third Southern Summit of heads of State and Government.

Moncada highlighted the importance of fulfilling the commitments of developed countries for the provision of financial resources, which must be sufficient for adaptation and mitigation, as well as for the transfer of technology and capacity building of developing nations so as to achieve the goals of the 2030 agenda.

He also referred to the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and added that developed countries, the largest emitters of pollution, must urgently transform their unsustainable patterns of production and consumption, committing to justice of climate.

In his speech, Moncada denounced the imposition of unilateral sanctions by imperialist and neocolonialist countries on more than 30 nations. “More than two billion people suffer daily the consequences of these measures, which are an obstacle to the right to development, and negatively impact the national public policies of our people,” he stressed.

Moreover, he expressed Nicaragua’s unconditional solidarity with the struggle and just cause of the Palestinian people, and reiterated the call to end the Israeli occupation, the establishment of conditions for a lasting and permanent solution that respects the 1967 borders, with the materialization of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State.

He also urged to continue promoting respectful cooperation, human fraternity and a world of culture of peace, free of hatred so that our countries can develop safely, creating values, hope and better conditions for future generations.

“We will remain committed to joining forces to continue working for the development of our people. With the unconditional mutual support of the G77 and China, we will be able to break barriers of inequality, poverty, injustice and impartiality,” the foreign minister stated.
