DPRK press denounces Japan’s armament plans

Pyongyang, Jan 20 (Prensa Latina) Japan's main objective in changing its principles for the transfer of defensive equipment lies in carrying out aggression and domination of the Indo-Pacific region, the official newspaper Rodong Sinmun denounces.

Japan approved a military budget for fiscal year 2024 of 7 trillion 949.6 billion yuan (some 53.662 billion dollars), an increase of 16,5% over last year, an all-time record in a decade, the ACNC agency pointed out.

These behaviors by Tokyo cause concern and vigilance from inside and outside this country, the newspaper states in an editorial.

By canceling in 2014 the “three principles on arms exports” maintained for 40 years and defining “three principles on the transfer of defensive munitions,” the Japanese government, with the help of other countries, has made possible joint developments of attack weapons and their export, the editorial underlines.

Since the end of last year, Tokyo has opened the way for arms sales to the United States and other allied countries, the publication notes.

The reactionaries in Japan have eliminated almost all the institutional apparatuses restricting the country’s conversion into a military power and turned it into a warlike state, as they so desired, Rodong Sinmun writes.

Yesterday they turned their territory into a military base and advance base for the US domination of East Asia, and today they themselves are building their country into the most dangerous aggressive base and a powder keg of war, the newspaper emphasizes.

Under the pretext of the problem of territory and the right to possession, they are fomenting conflicts and worsening relations with neighboring states, thus, bringing Japan forward to the day of its self-destruction in exchange for its enormous efforts, as considered by the newspaper.
