Angola and India ratify interest in strengthening cooperation

Kampala, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) Angola and India ratified their interest in strengthening cooperation in different spheres during the meeting between the foreign ministers of both countries, the Angolan Foreign Ministry reported.

The head of Angolan diplomacy, Téte António, and that of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, addressed the possibility of expanding and deepening the areas of joint work.

Jaishankar mentioned sectors such as pharmaceutical industry, tourism, food security, healthcare, oil and gas, education, basic sanitation and digital technology.

Téte António invited India to participate in the diversification of the Angolan economy, highlighting the business opportunities that Angola offers.

The African public servant commented on the National Development Plans and emphasized on special designs for grain production, fishing and livestock.

Jaishankar said that the Indian government is flattered by the consideration of “an important strategic partner” granted by President João Lourenço, and referred to the elections to the United Nations Security Council for 2028-2029, in which they are aiming for a position as a non-permanent member.

Both diplomats are participating in the 19th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which begins this Friday.
