Valdes-mesa-MNOAL
Kampala, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés arrived in Uganda to attend the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Third South Summit of the Group of 77+ China.

Salvador Valdés said on the social network X that it is an honor to represent the Caribbean nation in both events and noted that in the second of them the island will hand over to Uganda the pro tempore presidency of the G77.

Since its incorporation in 1971, Cuba has played an active role in the G77+China, mainly in the promotion of South-South cooperation as a way for equitable development among countries.

The NAM meeting began on the 16th with preparatory conferences for the meeting of heads of State and government and a call for unity and greater cooperation among the member nations.

This Wednesday and Thursday the ministerial meeting of foreign ministers was held, to give way to the Summit of Heads of State and Government until Saturday.

The NAM is made up of 120 countries: 53 from Africa, 39 from Asia, 26 from Latin America and the Caribbean and two from Europe; while 17 nations have an observer status.
