According to the declarations of the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, reproduced in the site of the Presidency, both nations are talking to build “a path that allows, without falling into worse mistakes than those that have already been made, a construction of judicial collaboration”.
From Davos, where he is participating in the World Economic Forum, the president revealed that Ecuador is aware that such procedures cannot be done in an accelerated manner.
“It is a process that must respect the legal conditions of each country in order not to cause a worse problem than the one that already exists,” he said.
The Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs of Colombia communicated a week ago that the country is willing to activate the repatriation process of its nationals deprived of liberty in Ecuador, through the Agreement on Transit of Persons, Vehicles, River and Maritime Vessels and Aircraft, signed between both nations on April 18, 1990.
