By a decision from the Supreme People’s Assembly, the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Motherland, the Directorate for National Economic Collaboration and the Directorate for International Tourism to Mount Kumgang will be dissolved.

The Supreme People’s Assembly instructed the Cabinet of Ministers and other relevant agencies to implement the resolution.

It considered that such mechanisms are meaningless because Seoul’s actions have practically led the parties to a war situation.

The reunification with the Republic of Korea can never be achieved because for nearly 80 years its policy has been one of “the unification through absorption” and “the merger of regimes” contrary to the DPRK’s line of reunifying the country on the one-nation, two-regime principle.

It is a serious anachronistic mistake to continue to regard the Republic of Korea, which has declared the DPRK as its “main enemy” and is lying in wait for a “regime collapse” while keeping the Korean peninsula in crisis in collusion with foreign forces, as a counterpart of reconciliation and reunification, he said.
