Brazilian policy addresses integration challenge in Chile

Santiago de Chile, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) The biggest challenge in Latin America today is integration, stated the secretary of international relations of the Communist Party of Brazil (PcdoB), Ana Prestes, who participates in Chile in the Hugs Festival.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the leader expressed the need for the unity of the people, but also for greater coordination of progressive governments and left-wing forces to counteract the regional right.

Prestes considered the return to power a year ago of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as an important triumph, however, she recalled that shortly after the country suffered an attempted coup d’état.

Our immediate goal is to support and work for the success of Lula’s government, she said, and in this sense she noted that Brazil’s current Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation is Luciana Santos, who is also president of the PcdoB.

The official was invited to this country to participate in the Hugs Festival, an annual meeting for reflection, enjoying music and good gastronomy, convened by the Communist Party of Chile.

I am lucky to participate for the first time in this wonderful party, not only from an artistic point of view, but also for the possibility of discussing together the future and the fight for a better world.

She highlighted the inclusion in the opening of the meeting of two priority topics: the condemnation of the United States blockade against Cuba and Israel’s genocide in Palestine.

For the Brazilian Communist Party those are also the two strongest international struggles, she said.

She explained that a permanent objective of her organization has been the rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, which constitutes the main obstacle to development.

And, obviously, solidarity with the Palestinian people in the face of new Israeli aggressions that have already caused the death of almost 25 thousand people, mostly women and children, she expressed.
