The Cuban Embassy in this nation also stressed the great importance that the governments of both countries attach to protecting this heritage, recognized as an indispensable element for a true social transformation.
Cuban Ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco, said that Cuba has a great cultural wealth derived from influences from regions such as Spain, Africa, and China.
According to Blanco, culture plays a crucial role in understanding the Cuban social project, that is why its preservation is a priority despite the media war and the ongoing US economic blockade against Cuba.
Blanco also highlighted China’s role as the world’s oldest civilization and a leader in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.
The ambassador praised Beijing’s commitment to protecting heritage systematically and supports for exchanges between civilizations through its Global Civilization Initiative.
“2023 marked the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage,” Blanco recalled.
