The cultural event, dedicated to late troubadour Pablo Milanés and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the El Mejunje Cultural Center, will be held through January 14, with performances at the Casa del Joven Creador Cultural Center, the Margarita Casallas Hall, and six other municipalities in Villa Clara province.
This year’s edition was preceded by a tribute to outstanding musician Manuel Corona in Caibarien cemetery, some 50 kilometers from this city, where his remains are buried.
Corona died in Havana on January 9, 1950, and composed emblematic songs such as Mercedes, Santa Cecilia, and Longina.
The Festival will bring together a great number of singer-songwriters including Marta Campos, Gerardo Alfonso, Roly Berrío, Erick Sánchez, Adrián Berazaín, Rey Montalvo, William Vivanco, and Inti Santana, among others.
