A Foreign Ministry statement points out that “the (…) Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia appreciates the historic action of the Republic of South Africa, which applied to the ICJ concerning Israel on December 29.”
The text adds that Bolivia is committed to peace and justice; it is a signatory of the Genocide Convention and recognizes that South Africa has taken a historic step in defense of the Palestinian people.
It describes this action as a “leadership and effort that should be accompanied by the international community that demands respect for life (considering that the report drawn up by the United Nations states that more than 21,000 people, mostly children and women, have died since October 7, 2023, as a result of the inhumane Israeli attacks on Gaza)”.
The statement recalls that on November 17, 2023, Bolivia, South Africa, Bangladesh, Comoros, and Djibouti submitted a request before the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the situation in the State of Palestine.
