In a statement to which Prensa Latina had access, the group noted that Cuba became a beacon for Latin America and the world after the victory of the Rebel Army led by Fidel Castro and with support from the people against the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship (1952-1958).

When humanity speaks of free nations and dignity, it will have to include Cuba and Fidel (Castro), the Barahona Solidarity Committee stated.

It explained that the example of Cuba and its maximum leader, as well as its firm principles 65 years after the victory “are a guide for those of us who fight for the well-being, sovereignty, territorial integrity and self-determination of the nations and their peoples.”

On this new anniversary of the Revolution, the Solidarity Committee in Barahona, together with the United Nations and the world, insists in demanding the lifting of the United States blockade that is causing so much harm to the Cuban people, it noted.

The organization pointed out that Washington’s hostile policy has not been able, nor will it ever be able to, subdue the Cuban Revolution.
