“A group of voters created to support the self-nomination (of Vladimir Putin) as presidential candidate (…) was registered On December 20th,” Budarina said.
According to the CCE, documents were received on December 26th to register those who support Putin’s candidacy based on article 43 of the Constitution on elections.
“Public figures, artists and politicians such as film director Nikita Mikhalkov, singer Polina Gagarina, boxer Alejandro Povetkin, signed up,” the CCE added.
The president of the CCE, Ella Pamfilova, previously reported that about 30 people applied to participate in the elections.
According to the law, self-proclaimed candidates must collect 300 thousand signatures by January 31st, 2024 to be confirmed as candidates for the elections.
The Russian presidential votes will be held from March 15th to 17th, 2024.
