According to Xinhua news agency, Dai Bing, chargé d’affaires of China’s Embassy to the United Nations, stressed this is “a ray of hope” for the people who require assistance in the midst of the disaster.

The Chinese ambassador also urged Israel to halt its collective punishment and insisted that a cease-fire remains as primary goal.

According to Xinhua, the resolution requests the UN Secretary-General to “appoint a high-level humanitarian and reconstruction coordinator” with the responsibility to facilitate, coordinate, monitor and check the humanitarian nature of all aid shipments to Gaza through States that are not parties to the conflict.
