In his closing remarks at the Second Session of Parliament, the Cuban leader assured that the effectiveness of these measures will depend on what we do to generate wealth and work incentives.
He reiterated that no single measure solves the complex challenges of the economy, but the correct, orderly and differentiated application of each one, evaluating the impact, especially on the most vulnerable families.
He reaffirmed that the decisions announced by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero should gradually bring order to the macroeconomic indicators, and move forward opening doors to hope and prosperity for Cubans.
These are complex decisions, said Díaz-Canel, which in the coming days will be explained in greater detail by the heads of agencies responsible for their implementation.
He specified that the gradual elimination of some reliefs and the changes in fiscal policy, among others, are aimed at correcting distortions and unsustainable deviations in the current conditions of the economy.
He added these adjustments will allow a necessary and better use of the few financial resources available to the country; despite this, growth in key activities is projected for 2024.
However, he warned that the demands of state institutions and the organized work of communities and municipalities should be increased.
He also called to attend more effectively to food production in accordance with the territorial needs, to recover tourism, to stop the fall of the sugar industry, to take control of foreign currency and the exchange market.
Reorganizing the financial system, guaranteeing levels of financing and foreign exchange management are added to the tasks to revitalize the economy.
RECOVERING THE SOCIALIST STATE ENTERPRISE
In his speech, the transformation required by the socialist state enterprise did not go unnoticed. In this regard, he said that the mechanisms for allocating resources and the institutional scheme in which they operate must be changed to guarantee their real autonomy.
He pointed out the emergency of recovering the efficiency levels in its main economic activities and achieving its sustainable development based on the linkage with private sector.
This sector must do everything possible to boost production of goods and services, making adequate use of the powers granted to it, the President remarked.
