The Cuba leader condemned the effects of the unilateral policy in the depression of several essential services in Cuba, among them electricity, health, education, water supply, public transportation and medicines.
In his final speech at the Second Sessions of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP), Díaz-Canel emphasized the hurdles faced by Cuba to get parts, import equipment and fuel, for which financial resources are insufficient.
“Even if the economic management of the State were the most efficient and effective in the world, which no government can boast of, many of our problems would persist because of the US blockade,” he stressed.
The Cuban President claimed that his nation is object of an economic war waged by the United States, the results of which are clearly materializing.
The US goal is to plunge Cuba into a scenario of social decomposition and generate ungovernability, a purpose in which they have failed miserably, Díaz-Canel added.
He also stressed that several issues have been addressed in a critical and self-critical way about the mistakes made.
“We have talked about efforts that have not yet been translated into solutions, about measures, as well as we recognize mistakes in the design of the task of order and its inadequate implementation”, he said.
He detailed that the approval of new economic actors was also questioned, without the adequate precision of the rules of action that could have avoided numerous deviations.
Díaz-Canel acknowledged that the coincidence of these problems and their accumulation over time have facilitated the presence of negative phenomena and manifestations in Cuban society.
Now it is time to move forward in the gradual rectification, said the president, who recalled that this process is inherent to the Revolution.
