Celebrated in Italy the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

Rome, December 22 (Prensa Latina) The La Villetta per Cuba Solidarity Association held today, in this capital, an event to celebrate in Italy the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution in that Caribbean nation, which will be commemorated on January 1.

The Cuban Academy of Salsa also participated in the organization of the event, an entity headed by Lázaro Martín, who serves as coordinator of the various groups of Cuban nationals residing in the center and south of this country.

A wide representation of members of La Villetta, chaired by Luciano Iacovino, participated, as well as members of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Italy, including its second chief, Damián Delgado; the first secretary in charge of Consular Affairs, Arasay D’Angelo, and the secretary of Press and Culture, Alejandro Betancourt.

The ambassador, Mirta Granda, sent a message in which she thanked La Villetta per Cuba, in particular Iacovino, for holding this meeting, to celebrate together the new anniversary of the revolution in her country.

“2023 has been full of challenges, it has been an arduous year for the Cuban people who have had to overcome increasingly complex obstacles in their fight to legitimize the right to be free, independent and sovereign,” highlighted the diplomat.

On this difficult path, she stressed, “there has never been a lack of support from friends in all corners of the planet where the word Cuba is synonymous of solidarity. Here in Italy, you have demonstrated with actions that this sentiment is the purest to unite people.”

In his speech, Iacovino referred to the importance of the historical date that marks the beginning of the revolutionary process in Cuba, and reaffirmed the solidarity support of the Italian people for it, of which La Villetta is an example, whose members are determined to maintain their fight to defend that country.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the president of La Villetta per Cuba referred to the fight of that association against the criminal North USAmerican economic, commercial and financial blockade, which violates the human rights of the Cuban people, and was condemned in the United Nations by all countries. , except the United States and Israel.

Iacovino announced that, to alleviate the consequences of these US measures, “we are preparing, like every year, containers with solidarity aid for Cuba, which will leave Italy in the first half of 2024, and the next two will be sent to the provinces of Artemisa and Havana.”

“We are determined to move forward and increase our solidarity with Cuba, and given the increase in provocations by US imperialism, we will start the new year with new projects to expand our struggle, our support,” said the solidarity leader.
