Agents of the General Sub-Directorate of Analysis of Anti-Narcotics Information (SGAIA), in a coordinated effort with Mexican authorities, busted Erick Manuel Ochoa Villagrán, 38, who is wanted by the U.S. justice.
Villagrán must appear for trial for drug trafficking in the District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, said Helver Beltetón, head of the PNC’s Sub-Directorate General of Anti-Narcotics Information Analysis.
Four other citizens are now in prison for committing other crimes and are also waiting to be extradited to the United States to appear before the U.S. courts.
Earlier 2023, SGAIA and the Public Prosecutor’s Office against Drug Trafficking reported the capture of José Morales Cifuentes.
On November 26, local authorities, through Operation Black Wolf, dismantled a criminal group that had been trafficking illegal substances to Mexico and the United States since at least 2019.
Like Colombia, Honduras and Mexico, the Guatemalan government has an agreement to arrest men and women linked to illegal drug trafficking from South America.
