Caputo announced on Tuesday that State employment contracts with less than one year would not be renewed and confirmed to reduce the ministries from 18 to nine and the secretariats from 106 to 54.
The minister explained that this means eliminating more than 50 percent of the hierarchical positions in the civil service and 34 percent of the total political positions.
He also informed that energy and transportation subsidies will be reduced, the peso will be devalued, any public works that have not started will be canceled, and transfers to the provinces will be cut to a minimum.
Upon learning of those decisions, lawmakers from Unión por la Patria (Union for the Homeland, UP) alliance and trade unions denounced their effects on citizens and the worsening of the socio-economic crisis.
