The Ecuadorians were captured while transporting more than three thousand bales of drugs valued at more than 80 million dollars, according to the report of the Attorney General’s Office, quoted by Diario El Salvador.
The convicts, identified as Julio César Delgado, Uber David Alay and Jorge Luis Mero, were arrested in the municipality of Acajutla, department of Sonsonate, while trying to move the illicit substances, which usually go to markets in the United States through Mexico and Guatemala.
According to the newspaper El Mundo the Third Sentencing Court of San Salvador issued the sentence to the three subjects after evidence was presented for trafficking 3.1 tons of cocaine last November 11, 2022, in a semi-submersible at 470 nautical miles south of Punta Remedios, in Acajutla, Sonsonate.
“The Prosecutor’s Office reiterated its commitment to prosecute this type of crime, to prevent people of other nationalities from putting the life and health of Salvadorans at risk, moving millionaire shipments of narcotics”, the FGR reported in its X account.
