Citing PISA, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) reveals that the test conducted in 2022 reveals that these students cannot solve basic math problems, or compare the distance between two roads, for example, nor do they know how to solve simple equations.
The percentage of students with low performance in mathematics is 31 percent in OECD countries, while in Brazil it is 73 percent.
The data released on Tuesday refer to 2022. Four years earlier, in 2018, that percentage was 68 percent among Brazilians (24 in the OECD).
Only one percent of students in Brazil obtained the best levels of math performances.
