Lula on Thursday took the floor at the opening ceremony of the Brazil-Qatar Economic Forum before leaving for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he will attend on Friday the UN Climate Conference (COP-28).
“We want to look together to the future and attract a new investment wave to Brazil. Our bilateral trade has grown exponentially, from about US$38 million in 2003 to US$1.6 billion today,” the Brazilian leader stressed.
He acknowledged: “Qatar is currently one of our main gateways for business with the Middle East and has a vibrant business community with a deep interest in Brazil”.
Lula also stated that he perceives good openings for defense, aviation and auto-parts sectors.
“There is a wide room to diversify our trade agenda with higher value-added products including auto-parts, defense products and Embraer aircraft,” he added.
After attending the majestic Forum, Lula paid an official visit to the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad al Zani, and stressed that Brazil intends to consolidate its position as one of the protagonists in the current global transition to a sustainable economy.
“The energy transition is a new opening to repeat this success story for low-carbon energy, waste reuse, green infrastructure and socio-biodiversity” he said.
He stressed that Brazil will soon be an exporter of sustainability. “We have huge potential in solar, wind, biofuels and green hydrogen sectors”.
