A criminal court ordered the imprisonment of repressors Omar Lacasa Antelo, Rudydard Sciosia, José Luis Parisi Alegre, Antraning Ohannessian and Rubely Pereyra for the crime of especially aggravated homicide.
The ruling revokes the decision made by a judge who rejected the request for prosecution with imprisonment made by the prosecutor specialized in crimes against humanity, Ricardo Perciballe, on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence.
Julio Correa, who was a leader of the Sindicato Único del Transporte Marítimo (SUTMA) and a member of the Communist Party of Uruguay, was abducted at home at midnight, on December 16, 1975, by a group of armed men in plain clothes.
Correa was taken to the 300 Carlos torture center, which belonged to the Organismo Coordinador de Operaciones Antisubersivas (OCOA) and operated on the same premises as the Infantry Battalion 13.
According to the report from the Peace Commission, Correa died under torture at 300 Carlos on December 18, 1975.
