According to the Xinhua agency, Wang Yi spoke with his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, to whom he stressed that next year both countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral ties. He also urged Brazil to achieve a new consensus in the United Nations Security Council on the Israel-Palestine issue to promote a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire between both parties, the release of the hostages, and advocating for a solution of two States as the fundamental key to addressing the conflict.
Vieira backed Beijing’s position and emphasized that work must be done towards extending the temporary ceasefire, followed by achieving peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel through the two-state solution. He also expressed Brazil’s willingness to collaborate with China through unified actions in the UN Security Council and to express a clear and unanimous position on the situation in the Middle East.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi traveled to New York to chair a high-level meeting at the UN Security Council on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Beijing seeks to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, achieve a ceasefire and end hostilities, protect civilians, and ultimately promote a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue through the two-state solution.
