The Commission of Constitutional Accusations of the Congress of the Republic began to study the constitutional accusations, a procedure reserved to high officials such as Boluarte and Benavides, since they have judicial immunity.
The group has in its hands both the aggravated homicide accusation against Boluarte for deaths in social protests, filed by Benavides, and the one filed by the progressive congresswoman Ruth Luque against Benavides, for her alleged role as head of a criminal organization dedicated to influence peddling.
The scandal broke out on Monday when the team of anti-corruption prosecutors and agents of her police unit arrested Benavides’ three advisors and raided their houses and even her office, and accused the former of being part of a criminal organization allegedly headed by her.
